South Carolina man faces charges for soliciting a minor for sex

All different types of criminal convictions can severely impact your life. However, sex offenses are viewed as especially egregious in the eyes of the law. Furthermore, the criminal justice system is sensitive to sex crimes involving children. Convictions for these offenses can result in massive fines, decades of prison time and a ruined reputation of the offender in his or her community.

A recent article reports that a South Carolina man has been accused of using Craigslist, the website, to solicit sex from someone he believed to be a kid. The South Carolina Attorney General announced that the arrest was a part of his office's "Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force."

According to reports, the person who answered the suspect's ad was posing as child. The suspect began texting and emailing. In actuality, the identity of the "child" was an undercover Georgetown County deputy.

Sources claim that the suspect offered to pay the "child" for sex. Ultimately, authorities say that the man proposed to meet the "child" for relations and was arrested when he arrived at the meeting location.

The suspect is charged with attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor, criminal solicitation of a minor and participating in the prostitution of a minor.

The consequences that come with this man's crimes will be hefty. According to a source, if he is found guilty, the suspect could face up to 35 years in prison.

Nobody wants a sex crime conviction on their criminal record. For this reason, if you are facing such flagrant charges, you should make sure that you are readily prepared for court.
