South Carolina man confronts drunk driving charges after a crash

With summer quickly approaching, the days in South Carolina are getting longer. This means that more people are out and enjoying the weather. However, if you are out later, you must be aware of the consequences of celebrating too much. Drunk driving serves as a common summer crime.

People can face drunk driving charges if their blood alcohol content is 0.08 or higher. A conviction for drunk driving charges can lead to many serious penalties. These penalties include jail time, license suspensions and large fines. There can also be social and job-related repercussions.

One South Carolina man recently made the mistake of driving while drunk. He now faces these challenges. According to police, the man was driving at around 4 a.m. and hit and killed a man who was crossing the street.

The man has been charged with felony DUI resulting in death, driving under suspension and failure to surrender a suspended drivers license. After paying $250,000 bail, the man has been released from jail.

No one is perfect, including the man in this case; however everyone has legal rights before, during and after an arrest. This includes those individuals that are charged with drunk driving. For example, there may be challenges to the way his B.A.C was recorded or with the way the field sobriety test was conducted.

Therefore, to protect their rights and negotiate the best possible outcome, those facing drunk driving charges should look into pursuing experienced legal representation. After all, everyone is entitled to special criminal justice protections.
