Murder allegations charged against a South Carolina man

Police arrested a 40-year-old man they believe was involved in the murder of a 27-year-old man, which occurred approximately two hours west of Columbia, South Carolina. Police stated that the suspect and the victim were acquaintances but they do not understand the motives behind the shooting yet. The victim died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Police believed that the shooting stemmed from an argument, which started inside a residence and extended into the front yard.

According to the report, police responded to a call about several shots being fired in the neighborhood. They found the dying victim on the side of the road in the front yard of a duplex. The victim was not responsive and he was barely breathing when police arrived at the scene. They tried to resuscitate him, but he only lived for another 20 seconds. Police are still investigating the crime. The suspect is facing multiple charges, including possession of a firearm to commit a crime, armed robbery and murder.

A criminal charge stemming from violent crimes such as murder is very serious. If convicted, a defendant is subject to a prison sentence and steep fines.

In a case where it is difficult for a person to protect him- or herself in a criminal trial, a solid criminal defense could provide the best outcome. The gravity and stress of criminal prosecution can be difficult to deal with in court, especially if a person is the defendant. In this case, there is a possibility that the police could have picked the wrong person or that the shooter acted in self-defense. However, in a case where the defendant is guilty to some extent, there may still be a chance to work out a plea deal, which may lessen the sentence.
